Updates

Blaze uses Sparkle to check for and install updates automatically. When an update is available, you’ll see a notification in the app. Click “Update” to download and install.

If automatic updates aren’t working, you can update manually:

  1. Go to github.com/wolfdevsllc/blaze/releases
  2. Download the latest Blaze.pkg
  3. Run the installer — it will replace your existing installation

Your sites, settings, and data are preserved during updates. They’re stored in ~/Sites/ and ~/Library/Application Support/Blaze/, which the installer doesn’t touch.

Section titled “”An error occurred while running the updater””

This is a generic Sparkle error. Check the Blaze logs for details — look for lines containing “update” or “Sparkle” in the Nginx error log.

Common causes:

  • No internet connection — Sparkle needs to download the update
  • Permission issues — if Blaze was installed with sudo or from a .pkg, the app bundle may be owned by root. Reinstalling with the latest .pkg fixes this.
  1. Quit Blaze completely (Cmd+Q, not just close the window)
  2. Relaunch Blaze from Applications

The version number is displayed in the app sidebar near the bottom. You can also check Settings for the full version string.
